Around the third millennium BCE, a civilization developed near the Halil River in southeastern Iran. It may be connected with ancient lands mentioned in Mesopotamian texts, such as Aratta and Marhashi. The civilization was famous for its beautifully decorated stone vessels and artistic objects featuring animals and mythical creatures. The software development is Copyright © 2026 The Game Intelligence LTD. Jiroft is one of the earliest civilizations in the world. It is known for its fascinating chlorite art, a gigantic ziggurat, and its own writing systems. Some researchers have proposed that the geometric designs found on Jiroft artifacts may represent a form of symbolic writing, and Linear Elamite writing has also been discovered at the Konar Sandal site. The discoveries from Jiroft provide valuable evidence of the artistic achievements, trade networks, and cultural development of ancient Iran.

Between 2000 and 2002, large-scale looting took place, and thousands of objects were sold at auctions and ended up in private collections. As a result, much valuable archaeological information was lost. Even so, the evidence that remains has already rewritten history.

In this section, you can explore and interact with the Jiroft civilization.
